This is great, thanks ![]() At some point (probably early august now) I'm going to be rebuilding my mythbox and one of the things I want to do to it is get the IR working with the receiver built into the case. It's an Origen AE which apparently has an "mce compatible VFD/IR module" http://www.origenae.com/en/accessory_vf110.htm So I'll be trying to get that to work with my current MCE remote, and probably coming back here for advice ![]() |

Mephi I looked at your link. I have alway liked that X11 case but we can't get them here. As far as your remote goes not having to use sleep mode for power off is a lot simpler to get working correctly. Information from your link. Another key feature is the ability to switch your HTPC on from a totally off state (not just sleep mode, but OFF). This coupled with full mce compatibility make this the VFD of choice. All of the MCE equipment transmit the same inferred codes and will say RC6ir some where on the hardware. The only area that varies is the USB receiver hardware descriptions (see Wiki Hardware Descriptions). Each manufacture has it's own code. If your hardware code is not one of the 25 we have supported I should be able to build you a working module if you provide me with the information I need. If you have new keys that are not defined I would like for you to submit them also so they can be added to the next release. TVBox |

ok, I've finally started looking at this... I've upgraded to R5.5, and I'm now ready to look at the remote reciever. looking at lsusb I get: Code: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0403:fc60 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0471:0815 Philips The Philips one is the external reciever that came with the remote, the future technologies one is the internal case reciever. |

Mephi Dos your external receiver ID 0471:0815 Philips and remote work ? you should be able to plug it in and run /usr/local/bin/lirc-reconfig.sh as root. Make sure this works before moving on. Because your new internal case receiver ID 0403:fc60 Future Technology Devices dos not exist in the current driver I modified the current driver with your information to test. PM me your email address so I can send you the beta files. TVBox |

Yep, the current reciever works fine, I ran lirc-reconfig.sh shortly after rebuilding the box and that's all great, it'd just be really good to use the other reciever. PM is on it's way ![]() |

ok, I've tried using those files and it doesn't work. The process was:
2. Copied new files over 3. unplugged old reciever 4. rebooted 5. Ran lirc-reconfig.sh 6. Rebooted When I run lirc-reconfig.sh with the old reciever it recognises it and just runs, when I run it with the new one it doesn't recognise it, and it asks me to select the remote type, so I select MCE-new. The appropriate bit of my /var/log/mythtv/lirc-reconfig.log file is: Code: T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=02 Cnt=02 Dev#= 6 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0403 ProdID=fc60 Rev= 4.00 S: Manufacturer=MConsult S: Product=IRTrans USB S: SerialNumber=MMUN0000 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr= 50mA I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=ftdi_sio E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms If I plug in the old reciever and re-run lirc-reconfig.sh then the old reciever still works fine. |

Mephi have sent updated files can you send me a link to your hardware manufacturer page. according to your previous post your hardware has already loaded Driver=ftdi_sio We should be seeing lirc_mod_mce. Mephi Are we trying to setup a OrigenAE VF110 VFD/IR module? I found this statment http://www.origenae.com/downloads/manuals/vf110_user_guide.pdf Using LIRC Clients Every LIRC client can be used with IRTrans. The IRTrans server implements a standard LIRC application socket (only LINUX) and a standard LIRC TCP/IP socket to be compatible with LIRC. Every LIRC client can be used with IRTrans. Using LIRC clients you can remotecontrol your PC and send commands. Only the learning of commands has to be done through the GUI or ASCII client as the LIRC protocol does not support learning of commands. The irserver completely replaces lircd. That means that the LIRC server (lircd) should not run on the system. There can be several LIRC and IRTrans clients connected to the server at the same time. The TCP/IP socket allows connections from different clients over the network. A very versatile client is irexec, delivered with LIRC. It allows executing any command triggered by an IR command received by IRTrans. It is also possible to send commands. That can be used to store complex commands: Switch on your Receiver and TV if you start the DVD player on the PC … The IRTrans Server is fully compatible with the LINUX VDR system. It is used in the same way as LIRC. Of course you have to learn your commands the right way, because the name of the commands is fixed inside VDR. http://www.irtrans.de/en/main.php It looks like you have to install proprietary software. http://www.irtrans.de/en/download/linux.php Convert back to the original files. (non of the files I sent you will work) It appears that your hardware dos not use the lirc_mceusb2 module like all of the other MCE remotes. I will send you the lirc source code for 5.5 You will need it to install your IRTrans software. Past that I haven't a clue to what we need to do to get it to work. Do you have your VFD working? I tried to get my keyboard to work many times in R5F27, and many other distros and was never successful. Now it "just works".....but the buttons along each side of the keyboard cause the screen to go black, kind of like a Vista thing. All the keyboard keys work great. I read over the wiki page and I didn't see anything jump out at me. Thanks, roofchop |

I am using the "Philips eHome Infrared Transeiver" with the mce keyboard (model 1044), and then I use a Harmony remote trained by the keyboard. I do have another receiver in a box somewhere if you think that would help. Here's the output of lsmod and lsusb. I do have a usb drive plugged in right now and the imon is the big volume knob on my Antec Fusion case, which doesn't work yet, but would be nice to get it working too eventually. Here's the output of lsmod and lsusb: Code: sh-3.1$lsmod | grep lirc

roofchop Is your problem only with the keyboard or dos it happen with the remote to? If you unplug the the imon equipment and reboot dos the problem still exist? Have you checked these files? each one of these should have this statement near the top. # Media Center Edition Remote Controls and Remote Control Keys on Media Center Keyboard /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc /etc/lirc/lircd.conf /etc/lirc/hardware.conf Other points of interest. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/LCDproc http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Imon It looks like everything is here to make your MCE remote function with Antec Fusion VFD. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Volume_Knob_on_Antec_Fusion TVBox |

Thanks for the help TVBox and getting the MCE stuff to work with KM. I still really like the MCE keyboard. I have looked at those other pages and am hoping eventually to get everything working. I did setup the LCD yesterday. I have been having some strange video issues using the VGA to my LCD monitor and DVI to my projector. Among other things, I discovered that the only the monitor blacks out when I push one of the "remote keys" on the keyboard not the projector, and still if I use the "keyboard keys", everything works responds great. I will post elsewhere if I can't fix the video problems. |

the monitor blacks out when I push one of the "remote keys" The first thing I would do is to unplug the Imon equipment and reboot to see if all of your MCE equipment functions correctly. My experience with two loaded lirc modules is that you will have problems. Thats the problem that this link corrects. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Volume_Knob_on_Antec_Fusion Your hardware. You have two remote control receivers loaded if you had a Hauppauge PVR-150 you would have another one but you you have a Hauppauge PVR-150mce that has no receiver. Philips eHome Infrared Transeiver .......................ID 0471 : 0815 SoundGraph Inc. iMON PAD Remote Controller ... ID 15c2 : ffdc The steps you remote problems. 1. create file /etc/udev/rules.d/lirc.rules and copy the following code to it KERNEL=="lirc[0-9]*", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0471", SYMLINK+="lirc_mce" KERNEL=="lirc[0-9]*", SYSFS{idVendor}=="15c2", SYMLINK+="lirc_imon" 2. Edit /etc/lirc/hardware.conf and add this to the bottom of the code. # Options to lircd LIRCD_OPTIONS="--driver=default --device=/dev/lirc_mce --output=/dev/lircd --pidfile=/var/run/lircd.pid --connect=localhost:8765" LIRCD1_OPTIONS="--driver=default --device=/dev/lirc_imon --output=/dev/lircd1 --pidfile=/var/run/lircd1.pid --listen" 3. This is where the problems begin. /etc/init.d/lircd dos not exist but /etc/init.d/lirc dos. Do you have webmin functional so you can do some searches? TVBox |
