I just swapped out an old sound card for a newer one. The reason for the swap is to try digital out. How do I get Knoppmyth to detect my new card? I know when I swap capture cards the setup will detect them and rerun mythtv-setup but I'm not sure how I get the proper drivers loaded for the new sound card. I know I could just to a backup and reinstall Knoppmyth but I'm hoping for an easier solution.

Thanks

If it's a supported card, you should just be able to turn it off, plug the card in and boot. You may also need to run (as root) "twk_audio --implement digital" to adjust the myth settings and turn on the optical out's light if you didn't previoiusly have a digital card.

It's a Sound Blaster Live Value. I turned off the computer, removed the old card and plugged in the new one into the same PCI slot and rebooted. Now I don't have sound out of the analog jack. I was going to start with analog and make sure that was working before trying digital. Is there a command I can run to make sure it's been detected properly by linux?

The following was all done remotely so I haven't had the chance to actually check to see if I'm getting sound. I'll do that tonight.

Code:
lspci | grep audio

Code:
00:0c.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 08)

Code:
aplay -l

Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Live [SBLive! Value [CT4832]], device 0: emu10k1 [ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback]
  Subdevices: 32/32
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Removed Subdevice line 1 to 31 above to save space
Code:
card 0: Live [SBLive! Value [CT4832]], device 2: emu10k1 efx [Multichannel Capture/PT Playback]
  Subdevices: 8/8
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Removed Subdevice 1 to 7 above to save space
Code:
card 0: Live [SBLive! Value [CT4832]], device 3: emu10k1 [Multichannel Playback]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

My sound (analog) is now working. I tried a bunch of different things but I'm assuming alsaconf did the trick. Now I'm off to play with digital out. Thanks
