Hi. I was wondering what kind of support is available for VFD displays in MythTV. Are there any LCDproc clients available for MythMusic, MythTV, MythWeather, etc.?

I tried googling for an answer, but the results weren't clear. I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light this for me.

Thanks!

im not even sure what a VFD is however there is LCD support in myth, however it is not turned on by default you will need to read the forums to figure out howto use it. It is on my list of things to get working, however i need a good LCD first.

VFD (Vac florecent display) will work with myth. make sure LCDproc is installed. What model VFD do you have?

If it's one that shipped with a DVine case, make sure the config file is set to winamp type.

You may need to play with your parallel port settings.

I have a DVine case with the VFD. It is cool, but since I have not ventured into re compiling mythtv yet on my working KnoppMyth install, it does not work with MythTV yet. I am using lcdproc to display cpu and memory loads, but I am really hoping to get it working with myth. Maybe caseman in the next Knoppmyth release will compile it with the lcd option.

I don't suppose V5 has the lcd option already compiled....? Didn't see any mention of it. My new DVine case should arrive this week, and I'd love to get the VFD working.

I've spent the last couple hours searching this forum, reading posts and the mythTV install docs but I'm not convinced I fully understand yet all the steps necessary to recompile.

Did you guys get this working yet?

I'm almost certain that R4V5 was compiled with the exact same options as older versions. R5 will probably have the LCD/VFD support.
