Hi all,

Is there any danger in manually upgrading Alsa to 1.0.19? (The non-debian way: ./configure, make, make install)

I have a sound card (x-fi extreme audio) that isn't recognized and I think support has been added for this in the newer alsa kernel module.

tks!
John

Should be no danger.

Thanks Cecil!

I'll try it out and post back the results.

jmac, I would be interested in how this goes for you. I currently have an issue where the audio randomly goes goofy on anything that's not passthrough. I was thinking about upgrading ALSA, but I'm not even sure which files to upgrade.
