I've been dealing with this for a while - it is not that common so not too much of a hassle.

Every now and then, while watching recordings, without pressing anything on the remote, the system will 'jump back" (10 mins in the recording). Sometimes, it is forward as well. I would say it happens on average once every 2hrs, although sometimes more often, sometimes less.

I am pretty sure that it is the ir receiver since on a couple of occasions, my system has started watching a recording on its own (middle of the night, early morning) - so it happens even when I am not watching a recording.

I am using r5.5, witha dble headed irblaster in serial port.

As I am writing, it just occurred to me that I should check where the other end of my dble headed blaster is - and see next time it happens if it corresponds to a channel change blast to my external cable box.

Any thoughts?
tks!

That's a pretty cool glitch. Probably annoying as all heck, but still kind of cool. ;-)

You might try doing a bit of temporary shielding to see if it's a spurious external source. I'm thinking electric tape and black construction paper or the like to make something like those cone collars they put on animals after surgery. Potentially ugly, but it's just a temporary measure for diagnostic purposes.
