Is it possible to use the ati_remote kernel module in R6?

What is the procedure?

The remote is currently working but keys are badly assigned and it's practically unusable. For what I can understand lircrc is fine (key assigment seem correct at first sight for my limited understanding), and seems identical to the one posted in flyspray http://linhes.org/flyspray/index.php?do ... ask_id=177.

My ignorance does not allow me to understand if lirc.conf is fine, but it also seem identical to the flyspray one.

I'm curious to know the answer to this too... if lirc is the only option in R6, I may have to stick with R5.5, since I find the kernel module much more usable.

...you can't build the kernel module under R6?

The kernel module is already there (I think): modprobe ati_remote shows no error.

I don't know how to stop lirc and have the kernel module loaded regularly.

After booting, this is what dmesg shows:

usb 2-2: Weird data, len=1 ff 03 00 00 00 00 ...
usbcore: registered new interface driver ati_remote
ati_remote: 2.2.1:ATI/X10 RF USB Remote Control
lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, major 61

lirc_atiusb: USB remote driver for LIRC $Revision: 1.71 $
lirc_atiusb: Paul Miller <pmiller9@users.sourceforge.net>
usbcore: registered new interface driver lirc_atiusb

Is it my impression or the kernel module is loaded BEFORE lirc? Actually is more than an impression as if I type

[root@mythfe2 luca]# rmmod ati_remote

the remote stops working.

It would seem that I am already using the ati_remote kernel module; the problem is that such module is assigning keys in a different way than the module I was using in R5.5 after following instruction from this post: http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... =atiremote

Needless to say that very important keys are missing (e.g. Esc, m, p, etc. Mythtv is practically unusable!)

Is it possible to use the same ati_remote kernel module that was available in R5.5? can I just copy it from R5.5 to R6?

To stop lirc it might be:

Code:
sudo sv stop lirc

See this wiki page for some R5.5 --> R6 "conversions."

I managed to obtain a result.

Using the R5.5 did not work. But in order to use it, I renamed the two kernel module /lib/modules/2.6.28-LinHES/kernel/drivers/input/misc/ati_remote.ko and ati_remote2.ko; no longer loading the kernel module allowed Lirc to work, showing perfectly acceptable performance and key mapping.

Now I am satisfied.
