Has anyone found a IR receiver that is built into a front 3.5" front panel that works easily with lirc? I'm hoping to not have to deal with a external IR receiver and extension cable. The cheapest solution I could find is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811999191 but I haven't been able to confirm if it works with lirc. I don't need a remote. |

I use an Antec Veris Basic (about US$30). It will read all of the codes for the above but is much cheaper. It fits in a 3.5" bay. http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NzA5 The bonus is the power button runs in series with this IR receiver so the PC can be completely off and when you press the power button on the remote, it powers the PC on. Very nice! The basic comes with an RM100 remote which is fairly basic but I then use a Harmony remote to drive all of the other codes and the RM100 sits in a drawer. What section of the store did you find it in? I think I'll swing by and pick one up. |

Sorry for the late reply. ![]() For the store I went to, Manhattan Beach, they were in the aisle with the hard drive enclosures, case fans, and power supplies. |

I've picked up an Antic Veris Basic at Fry's in the bay area and I'm getting ready to install, but I do have a few questions: 1. I've already customized my Harmony remote to use the Hauppauge remote codes. Can I continue to use those codes with this receiver, or do I have to configure my Harmony to use the "SoundGraphRM200" remote, as Christ did, to get a broader set of available buttons? 2. I'm planning to phase the install across 2 days due to time constraints. If I do the LIRC software upgrade first, will my Hauppuage PVR-150's receiver continue to work with the new version of LIRC if only update hardware.conf & /etc/init.d/lirc? Thanks. |

By the Hauppauge I think you mean the MCE RC6 remote. While this remote will work with the Antec Fusion LCD, it will not work with the Veris Basic. I know, I was surprised too when I tried that path. You will need to go to the RM200 codes to make this work. Quote: 2. I'm planning to phase the install across 2 days due to time constraints. This should be ok. It is really just updating the known devices and adding drivers for them. Also, while I stayed as close as possible to the original iMon lircrc in KM, I did a couple of small mods to allow for power off when I was done using the system. Let me know and I can share that too. |
