I was having the double command problem and I used the solution "ATI Remote Wonder Fix for R5.5" (see and applied it. This fixed the double commands being issued but I lost my key mapping. I confirmed that my original lircrc file was still in /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

The current mapping is driving me nuts!!!!

Does anyone have a fix?

The fix you applied removed lirc and installed the Kernel module.

This means you'll need to create a custom xmodmap and set it to run at startup so the system knows how to interpret your keypresses.

Search the forum for instructions on creating and running a custom xmodmap. I've included my default xmodmap below... it seems to work pretty well (although, it is different from the lirc default settings).

keycode 9 = Escape
keycode 179 = p
! OK
keycode 36 = Return
keycode 110 = p
keycode 160 = bar
keycode 159 = F8
keycode 222 = Escape
keycode 151 = F7
keycode 176 = bracketright
keycode 174 = bracketleft
keycode 158 = M
keycode 140 = Z
keycode 41 = Q
keycode 177 = R
keycode 146 = W

Thanks for the tip s1148625. I had to rebuild my frontend so I am back to the original lirc right now. At first it looked like the double key presses went away but it came back when I installed the video driver for my ATI Rage 128 video card. This may just be a coincidence.

I see that the LIRC installed with KnoppMyth 5.5 is version 0.7.0 (according to lircrc.conf). Has anyone had the double key press problem and upgraded to the latest version of LIRC 0.8.4a)? Did it fix the problem?
