Hello, I have an issue that I could not find an explanation for in this forum. I'm using R4V4.1. For some reason in one of my computers lirc is not recieving input from the remote through the built in pvr350 IR reciever. Everything else is working perfectly. I would like to mention that the IR reciever works fine in one machine (nforce2 chipset) but does not quite work in the intended machine (i815 chipset). I have tested this using the irw utility and on the i815 based machine it does not record any input. The lirc_i2c and lirc_dev modules are loaded with this output in kern.log:
Code:
kernel: lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61
kernel: bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded
kernel: bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
kernel: bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded
kernel: bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
kernel: i2c-core.o: driver i2c ir driver registered.
kernel: lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
kernel: i2c-core.o: client [Hauppauge IR] registered to adapter [ivtv i2c driver #0](pos. 3).
kernel: lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin:sample_rate: 10

From here, it looks like there are no problems... lircd runs fine, the lircd log shows no foul:
Code:
lircd 0.7.0pre4: lircd(hauppauge) ready

this is in my modules.conf:
Code:
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c

and these are my devices in /dev
Code:
root@jed:/dev # ls -l li*
crw-r--r--    1 root     root      61,   0 Oct 20  2003 lirc
srw-rw-rw-    1 root     root            0 Aug 22 04:28 lircd
prw-r--r--    1 root     root            0 Apr 10 19:49 lircm

here is my ivtv module config:
Code:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c
options ivtv debug=1
options tuner type=39
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner
add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c

and here are the related modules loaded:
Code:
lirc_i2c                4448   0  (unused)
lirc_dev                8592   1  [lirc_i2c]
ivtv                   85572   3  (autoclean)
msp3400                16544   1  (autoclean)
saa7115                 5920   0  (autoclean) (unused)
tuner                  12712   1  (autoclean)
i2c-algo-bit            7048   1  (autoclean) [ivtv]
i2c-core               12452   0  (autoclean) [lirc_i2c ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner i2c-algo-bit]
videodev                6016   4  (autoclean) [ivtv]

I don't know what to think except it doens't like the mobo chipset. Can't think of any other info to provide.

I'm having the same exact problem with a VIA chipset. I have the new PVR 350 with the LG tuner. I'm wondering if other things changed on the card besides the tuner. The card is working great. My last two steps are lirc and lcdproc (Ahanix D5 case parallel port VFD).

I'll post my solution if I figure it out.

Not really helpful solution but it turned out for me that I didn't have the ir receiver plugged in all the way. Which was either my sloppiness or its not a good fit. Give yours a good push in to make sure its snug.

I am having the same problem. Everything works except no action from the remote control. My motherboard is DFI KM400-MLV with Via chipset.

Anybody have an idea?

Someone else had this issue, turn out the receiver cable wasn't fully seated in the card.
