Post subject:  EVGA GeForce 6200 512 MB DDR2 PCI 2.1 VGA/DVI-I S-Video

SETUP
====
This video card was purchased to drive a SD CRT TV.

An EVGA Geforce 6200 was added to a known working Dell 370 Precision system and the original video card was removed. S-video is connected to Video 1 of the TV.

Code:
[root@dotmyth ~]# lspci | grep VGA
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)

SYMPTOMS
========
S-Video is black and white. S-video cable \ TV was verified with a DVD player and displays color. The Dell splashscreen is in B&W and not color: is the video card defective? Output through 15-pin VGA is color.

QUESTIONS
========
Is there a setting or process that needs to performed to properly integrate the card so that it display color video?

Can I assume that the driver is correct, based on the lspci results? Are there any other drivers to be tried?

Never seen this before. The 6200 series would use the 'nvidia' driver package. Do you at any time see color displayed? Particularly on the BIOS boot screen. The energy star logo is green and yellow (for example in this picture. Here there are no drivers in use, just the native output from the card to the TV. If you see B&W here, I would conclude that that card's s-video output is defective and RMA it. That last statement would be my course of active only after I had exhausted my on-line resources (i.e. googling).

Thanks for the reply graysky. I was testing the connections again and I lost all video. This prompted me to wiggle \ rock the card and voila! Color.

The S-video output is good, however, it does not utilize a fair amount of screen real-estate. Any pointers to 'stretch' the display so that it uses all the screen would be appreciated.

I believe there is an adjustment in mythfrontend for this, perhaps even from within nvidia-settings itself.
