Post subject: | Nvidia TV-Out sample does not work |
Damn this setup is kickin my butt. I have everything working exactly how I want it but getting it over to the TV seems to be a problem. I have a Albatron KMG18 Pro Nvidia NForce2 motherboard with TV-Out. I go to the terminal and type in mv /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.nvidia.tvoutsample /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (not sure if I typed the tv out sample correct here since I am not at my box but it is something like that, I use tab so I know it is correct) It asks me to overwrite the file and I say yes. Once I reboot I get nothing. The screen on the TV works while the system is booting but once it goes into the GUI part it goes black. Another thing that sucks is the fact that I can't get the monitor to work anymore either so I can't go back in and change the command on the PC either. Any help would be appreciated. |

Yes, I did install the Nvidia drivers. I get the fancy Nvidia sign at startup...I used to anyway. I did copy the XF86Config to another location so if there is some sort of safe mode (windows terminology from a guy with a mac) where I can go in and move it back. I was going to try and add the line to the original XF86Config file but none of the descriptions really state where I should put it in the file so I figured just using the sample would be best. |

There are several samples around here. I've got one over under the tier 2 topic. Mostly it adds new mode lines and trims other stuff out. BTW - This is a "search the forum!" FAQ. You really should have been able to find this for yourself... |

Try searching for XF86Config and tvout. Here is at least one. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1150 |

Sure are a bunch of hardasses around here. Nearly literally every single thread I've found with a search ends up with the replies being "do a search", or "you woulda found this if you searched". Finding the actual threads with the information is becoming harder and harder! I'm grateful for the posts and info that exist, but jeez guys, lighten up a bit. |

well the issue is that the answers usually are rather lengthy, and we really don't feel like typing them over and over. And on the other foot we don't really know where they are, so in order to put a link we would have to do a search ourselves. |

Dude! I'm like so totally a zen cat normally. Yeah... ![]() To put a twist on an old metaphor, we're glad, even eager, to teach you to fish so that you can feed yourself. If you're just looking for someone to give you fish on demand you've mistaken us for suckers. I get enough of that at work where they at least pay me for it. Answering questions around here is volunteer work, done to help build a community, and "pay it forward" for the guys like Cesman and Xsecrets who helped me. As a famous man once said "Go thou and do likewise..." |
