System Specs
Athlon XP 1700+
512megs RAM
200gb HD
KnoppMyth R4V4
PVR 350 w/the new LG tuner
kernel 2.4.27 recompiled
alsa 1.0.6 recompiled
ivtv 0.1.10-pre2-ck105x (patched to autodetect the new PVR 350 LG tuner)
SB Live

Been using linux for years but first attempt at mythtv. Tried it first on debian and decided to try KnoppMyth for ease of install.

After taking hours and hours to get the ivtv driver patched to recognize the new LG tuner on my PVR 350, I got video working ok.

Audio however is out of sync. I've seen tons of posts by searching google but nothing helpful. I'm guessing I'm getting the direct audio feed rather than the captured audio. I set the alsamizer settings as stated in the mythtv.org howto (amixer settings). No luck. I then removed all the preinstalled alsa stuff and downloaded and compiled alsa 1.0.6. Still same problem. I turned on the agressive buffering in mythtv as well. No help.

I'm guessing I'm missing some option on the snd-emu10k1 mod? Something else maybe?

Been staring at the screen too long, I may be missing something obvious. Thanks in advance for your help.

since you have a pvr350 we really need to know your audio flow before we can help.

Not 100% sure what you mean by audio flow, but I'll try and be more specific.

I have coax going into the pvr350 tuner and regular PC speakers plugged into the line out on the SB Live. Is this what you meant by audio flow?

I have the snd-emu10k1 driver loaded using modprobe along with the other snd- modules. A weird thing I discovered after posting last night was that alsaconf does not detect my soundcard, though the module works, alsamixer works, etc. Very strange.

I did read something last night after I posted here. Someone suggested a connection from the 350 line outs to the line ins on the SB Live would fix the delay. Anyone confirm this? As I'd have to go out and buy said cable, I'm hoping someone can confirm this before making the purchase.

As I'm writing this, I realize that if I plug the speakers into the pvr 350's audio outs, I'd probably get the correct sound. It's always the obvious solution you miss *sigh*. Will post again if that fixes it.

if you are using the pvr350 for tvout then you will have to either connect the audio out of your pvr to the tv/reciever/whatever or you will have to run it back through the line in. Just one more pains of the pvr350.

I routed the audio outs of the pvr 350 to the line in on the SB live. Still have out of sync audio. Going to play with the mixer settings but if someone knows the proper mixer setup, feel free to post them :).

This statements leads me to believe the PVR 350 is not a good choice. I plan on building a couple more of these boxes for family members. Is there a better choice of card?

well most who have it say it's the best video output quality possible through video, I have never personally used one. Helped one person set one up remotely, but I didn't get to see the picture. The problem is they are a royal pain in the rump to setup. And even the best setup still has problems playing xvid/divx.

Now for the problem. The other option is nvidia, it is super simple to setup, and everything works great, but some say it is terrible quality. I have nforce2 onboard tvout, and it doesn't bother me that much. I did have to tweak the color a bit, it was dark and red. However, I'm sure that some people would just be appalled at the picture on mine.

Oh! I know this one, it's me! ;-) The main thing that drive me nuts with the nforce2 built in video (at least on my MoBo) is the compressed even clipped range from light to dark. You can either have all of your light colors an indistiguishable off-white or all of your dark colors an undifferentiable brown/black. It's very all very frustrating... I'm not even sure I notice any of the interlace issues and blurry motion that people complain about, but the lack of contrast and color distortions just kill me.
