Post subject:  Is this the right PVR 250?

Hi,

I've been reading about KnoppMyth and MythTV for a while and have decided to take the plunge - I've already bought a motherboard and HDD and have got other bits of hardware lying around to use, but I'm missing a TV card. I've just seen a PVR 250 for £65 at Amazon.co.uk and I can't help but wonder if it's the right one, as it's about £20-£30 cheaper than every other store I've seen it in. And I can vaguely remember reading about a subtly different version of the PVR 250 that's not quite as good as the others. Or that just might be my overactive imagination...

Could someone knowledgeable about these things confirm whether or not it's the right one?

Thanks!

if its way cheaper it might be a Microsoft Media Center Edition pvr250. The downside is that with knoppmyth it wont work out for the box, you need newer / unstable IVTV drivers. From what i hear it works fine then. :)

Well, the site DOES mention an "Infra red Remote control and connector".. So it can't be the MCE..

Ah, brilliant, thanks! I think I'll definitely be getting it soon then.

Just got KnoppMyth installed on the hardware that arrived today - impressed so far!

Phew,
Had me worried there , I got the last of those at £65 and was about to install it. Didnt like the sound of "cheaper...Less stable"

i didnt mean to imply that MCE is less stable, only that it requires newer drivers then comes with knoppmyth. those drivers and not "stable" according to the site, however many -many people use them and report no problems.
