Any of you guys out there that have the chaintech 7nif2 have a suggestion for a good heatsink/fan combo. I've been using the retail package athlonXP h/f combo, and it's loud, and recently my processor shutdown cause it got too hot. I'm going to look into the air flow and make sure things aren't overly dusty, but I wanted to move to something that works a little better and is not as loud.

I would really appreciate comments from people using this MB as I don't want to buy a good one and then have it not fit.

I'm also interested since I'm seriously considering a major upgrade from thre Shuttle and this board is one of the candidates. Actually most AMD microATX boards seem to have a very simliar layout and the size of the processor fan is an issue with many microATX cases...

The one that comes packaged with the retail Athlon has known issues...

The good news is that the Zalman cooler I ordered from Directron.com was very quiet, and fit nicely in a CoolerMaster ATC-620C-BX1 case with a 7NIF2:

The bad news is that I can't promise that the cooler works with the 7NIF2... I ordered the system from Directron and had them put it together for me for $29. It ran for 2 hours and then died. Only then did I notice that the cooler wasn't securely attached at all, so the CPU probably fried. System's back at Directron and we'll see if the problem was that they didn't put it on right, or that it doesn't work with the 7NIF2. Hopefully the motherboard didn't fry when the CPU did.

I'll take a look at that one, let us know the outcome.


well that's why you had them put it together right? so they could be responsible for this kind of mistake.
