Post subject: | 2nd tuner problems PVR 250 with PVR 250 MCE |
Ok, well i was very happy with my mythtv box, so i decided to improve and add a second tuner, this one a cheap 250 mce i got off ebay..... so i installed the card, but i am having a hard time getting it to work. I have a feeling that my problem is an IVTV problem, but i am not sure which settings for tuner type to use.... The PVR 250 that works is a retail (orange box) w/ remote that i needed to set to type 39. Anyone know which tuner types I should try for the MCE? I have the NTSC/NTSC-J 48432 REVI110 Thanks! |

as far as I know this question cannot be answered with certianty. I've heard of people using 2, 5, 9, 39, 44, 60 and numerous others, and I've never seen a guide to let you know which one matches up with which card. |

i've read some people being able to autodetect which card type by using -1 do you know if that might work? I also just did a reinstall with just the mce card, and out of the box, without an IVTV recompile the mce card works fine. IVTV reads options ivtv debug=1 options tuner type=2 when i recompile the ivtv drivers, don't i have to change the IVTV file to: options ivtv card=85 type=39 options tuner type=39 ? if i need to recompile IVTV to get my 250 non mce working, how should the text look? Thanks! |

you need to have type=2,39 or more specifically type=(first detected card), (second detected card) could be 39,2 |

Does the 250 MCE (vs. the standard 250) actually work with Knoppmyth? -brendan |

sure the MCE will work as long as you find the right tuner type. It may require an ivtv upgrade, but that's all. |

No ivtv changes whatsoever! Any chance you can tell us if it's the standard or low-profile version? that is, on this page: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/compare_pvr.html Is it the 1042 (standard) or 1086 (low profile)? -brendan |

I don't think i've ever seen a low profile mce card, but my 250 mce is a standard version. |

My mistake, my google search for 250 MCEs led me to a 150 MCE page, and I didn't notice as I was using that page for part # info. There are only low profile 150s (which are known to not currently work with Knoppmyth). -brendan |

Did you try both orderings as Xsecrets suggested? Order matters... |

well, according to the lspci, the Newer pvr 250 (non-mce) is detected first, then the MCE, so i thought that was the order they were supposed to go in. root@mythtv:/home/aquamike7# lspci -v | less Memory at e6003000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2 00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller (rev a4) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Chaintech Computer Co.
