Post subject:  TV Sound problems

I am having 3 sound problems that I have not been able to resolve (6 rebuilds later). My setup is:

- Compaq Evo 1.8 (384 mb)
- Hauppauge Win TV
- internal sound (Intel8x0)
- Nvidia Annihilator Pro .

Problem 1: Whenever I play music or TV, the mixer master setting is reset to 70%. I set the master to 100% (alsamixer) (I alsactl store and restore the settings), go into Mythtv, play music (or TV), go to XTerm, alsamixer - setting is reset to 70... which brings me to my second problem...

Problem 2: my volume is VERY low. Alsamixer shows only one input - Headphones. I can set everything to 100% (except master - see above) and the volume is still VERY low for everything (TV, music).

Problem 3: getting a loud hum from my sound card. Have tried 2 different cards (added a SB Live - same issues), two other computers (same build).

Latest attempt - installed alsa 1.0.1... no help...

Please help...

70% is the default level for mythtv. It controls master volume and dsp by default. You should check the volume levels in mythtv. I can't remember exactly where it is somewhere in the setup menu. or if you are using xv playback support you can use the F key to bring up the volume control.

What is happening is you set the volume to 100% then you move to a different area of mythtv and mythv's volume control kicks in and moves it back down to 70%

Thanks for the suggestion... Does anybody know where the master volume is set in Mythtv setup? I have looked yet again and cannot find it...

sorry my post may have been misleading. it is not in the mythtv-setup program. You run mythtv choose the setup menu option, and then chose the general menu option. it is on the first page.

I didn't know the exact route till I looked agian when I got back to my myth box.
