I just went to IvyTV's website and noticed that they just got rid of the alpha_decoder branch and merged it with the CVS.

Is this the version that is coming with R4? If not (and perhaps even if so, considering how often the code gets updated), could somebody describe the process of upgrading to the latest ivtv driver? I don't know how to do it. I guess the basic question is, "What do you have to remove and replace in order to make sure the new driver is loaded and not the old one?

thank you,
tyro

The first release of the decoder-alpha. I've placed it in /usr/local/lib, build it in there... ALOT of development is going on with IvyTV which is great! if you have a 250, I'd recommend staying w/ decoder-alpha. If you have a 350 and things don't work too well(decoder, TV out, Pal), then try a new release.

What are the steps involved in doing that? How do I ensure that the latest drivers are used? Do I just have to recompile the latest drivers in the /usr/local/lib directory? Will that automatically overwrite the modules already there?

thank you,
tyro

cd /usr/local/lib
tar xzvf /path/to/drivers
cd ivtv/drivers
make clean
make
make install
cd ../utils
make clean
make

The site needs a 'howto' page with these types of items listed.
