| Post subject: | 5.1 speakers not heard |
I was tinkering with the various DVD players out there, and can't seem to get all speakers working 5.1 sound. I've tried to set up aumix and alsamixergui to output to as many speakers as possible using the onboard AC97, but I can't seem to get any center, bass, or rear channels. Is there a file I need to change to let the system know I'm using six speakers, or have I missed something? Thanks. |

I'd suggest taking a look at alsa-project.org to find out which cards support 5.1 and how to output 5.1. You should also visit the docs on mplayerhq.hu to fine out how you can have mplayer pump out 5.1. |

to truely get 5.1 you usually need to use the spdif output. |
