Does anybody know how to enable the second line-out on a SB Live card? I would like to use both concurrently. |

I don't think alsa supports this port by default. I don't know how much work it is to get it enabled. I am pretty sure that the second sound out on this card is part of the 5.1 out capability, and requires that the alsa drivers support that feature. I am pretty sure that the ordering of the Out 1, Out 2 and Out 3 ports are for: Out 1 - Left and Right Front Out 2 - Left and Right Rear Out 3 - Center and Subwoofer If you have out 1 and out 2, then the outputs are usually: Out 1 - Left and Right front Out 2 - Rear common and Center front with embeded Subwoofer that your Home Theatre component has to break out on it's own. Do you also have the Orange port labeld "Digital Out or (())-> 3" (sort of wrapped around the port)? If so you may want to check to see if your Home Theatre component supports a spidif or copper digital in connection, as that would be an even better way to get 5.1 out. Again you will need to cnfirm that the alsa-project.org site provides information on how to make alsa use the port. I don't think it's enabled by default. I hope you find this information useful. -Rusty |

soundblaster live rear ports can be enabled. I just did it on my main debian box. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you exactly which lever it was to turn it on I used gamix alsamixer kde mixer and several others, and one of the volumes turned them on. I want to say it's the wave surround, but I wouldn't swear to it. I'm now trying to get my mic working with the front and back speakers. For Teamspeak and such for online gaming. |
