Post subject:  Recommended S-Video Out card?

Hello all,

I've spend over 4 hours trying to get my ATI 128 Pro to do TV Out under X... I lost an old 13" monitor in the process, and based on what i've seen thus far (via google) it's pretty much not possible... Unless you have some advise? (-;

http://gatos.sourceforge.net/ was my hope, but doesn't seem to work for the 128 pro

My question is, what would be the best low cost card to get? I see NVidea is most commonly used? but what I see here; http://www.khensu.org/unlocked/tvout.html it seems there must be a better option?

Are the WinTV 250 / 350 worth making the upgrade (high cost) for the added MPEG2 abilities?

3d performance is really a non issue, I don't see myself playing anything other than Mame games on this system (-;

I only have a Sony Wega with i480 capabilites (no HTDV). I currently have a ATI TV Wounder & and a Pinnacle PCTV Pro which I've been planning on using as the input devices.

To bad Showshifter3 is so buggy..

Thanks for your advise,
Mike

... I guess it would have to be all the way to the PVR 350, as the PVR 250 doesn't have tvout

I've always liked Asus. It seems that a Matrox 450 might be the best, but they seem seriously over priced.

what you folks think? http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... /T/N/64M/A

I think it's settled on your advise. As I believe your the fantastic mantainer, it seems matching your hardware configuration would be a good idea!

thanks for your advise and hard work!
