More specifically how to reduce flicker on a TV screen with an Nvidia 440 card?
Thanks,

I would also be very interested in a solution to this problem. The problem I have is just while viewing the MythTV screens. Watching TV or recordings looks great. Any ideas?

Yes, no flicker when viewing something full motion. Flicker only occurs when displaying the same thing, like a configuration page... it's a redraw rate issue, I believe

Well I'm not really sure what you guys are refering to as flicker I haven't noticed anything like that with my setup on nvidia tvout. I would make sure that your refresh rates are set properly. 30-50 60
nvtv is for the older nvidia cards. I'm not sure if they've updated it, but it didn't used to even work with the 4mx and newer.

I got the refresh's set as you advised (and the nvidia.sample), however the flicker is out of control.
The best way to see the flicker is to load Mozilla in a independant window, or the MythTV settings page.
Don't you see flicker?
What care / tv you got?
I'm on a MSI 440 with a sony wega

I see the flicker the most when in the mythmusic module and listening to music. I also have an nvidia 440.

I've never noticed any flicker. I don't have mozilla installed, but have been into the settings quite a bit. I have the onboard video from an nforce2 motherboard. gf4mx equivelant I think. And it's going svid out to a hitachi rear projection hdtv monitor.

I've done more tests and I've narrowed things down a bit. The flicker is only visible for me when there are horizontal lines on the screen. For example, the setup screens where there are boxes around various options etc. This flicker is also visible when I exit KnoppMyth and I have an Xterm window up. Again it is only visible around the horziontal lines. Here is a clip of my XF86Config-4 file:
Identifier "Card0"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV"
Option "TwinView" "1"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "60"
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768, 1024x768; 800x600, 800x600"
Option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
Option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO"
Option "TVOverScan" "0.7"
Option "NvAGP" "0"
# The following line is auto-generated by KNOPPIX mkxf86config
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "All"
BoardName "All"
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

The X configuration file and problem you described is identical to the problem I run into.

are both of you running twinview? Just curious as I have never done the twinview thing and wonder if it has anything to do with the flicker that I don't see.

I got the same problem... Always thought that it is supposed to be like this.
But now that I think about it I had the same problem when I used the TV-Out of my laptop. But there was an flicker control option in the tv-out panel of the graphic card driver... It seems like we need something like that for the nvidia drivers too.
Strange that only some of you see it though.

Just loaded this thing up and looks pretty good. Had same issue with flicker along with problem with outputting to SVGA and SVID at the same time. I pulled the following from suggestion to fix second issue and it fixed the flicker. I simply replaced the section in my XF86config-4 file with these and now only a couple of more issue and things should be good. For some reason the SVID output doesn't take up the complete TV screen.
