Been lurking for about a week--thx for all the great info. Looks like I need to buid a system...planning on going from scratch, but I need some definite answers to some REAL basics.

Think I'll use an ASUS A7N8X-VM which (evidently) has TV-out and 5.1 sound built on. I'll probably go ahead and use the PVR-350 as well.

Check me for stupidity (I've never had a PVR of any type):

1. So I should be able to record a program (on the 350) while I watch a pre-recorded program via the ASUS tv-out, right?

2. If I added a second PVR-350 (or 250), I could watch a live program with the pause/replay features (on one 350) while I record a second program with the second 350, right?

3. In the future, the PVR350's tv-out will become operational (driver-wise, or whatever), and if I so choose, I can switch from the ASUS dongle to the PVR-350 output, right?

Thanks for your help with the newbie questions!

yes this is correct.

once agian this is correct, however there really is no need to spend the extra money to have both be 350s as you could only use one for tvout anyways.

well hopefully I know cesman and dale are trying to get the tvout to work "out of the box" on R5, but from what cesman has said he's still having some problems. But if it becomes stable and gets included then yes you would switch to using the pvr350 for tvout instead of the onboard.
