While investigating some intermittent problems I have had with my tuner cards, last week I deleted and re-installed them. All seemed to be well until I found that my program guide was not being updated.

I am using Shepherd as the grabber so I reconfigured Shepherd and reentered all the channels. I ran it and it updated its output.xmltv file correctly. I checked the myfilldatabase setup in mythtv-setup>General>last page, checked Automatically run mythfilldatabase and made sure it had the correct argument
Code:
mythfilldatabase --file 1 ~/.shepherd/output.xmltv
When I run myfilldatabase either either manually or automatically by the cron job Shepherd sets up, no data is added to the guide which is empty. Even running the it using the --file option as per the above code has the same effect.

Looking at /var/log/mythtv/mythfilldatabase.log I cannot see any difference between current operation and back when it worked fine.

Can anyone help?

Just a guess, but are you sure the sourceID is the same after you re-added it? I seem to remember it changed for me once. Ex. Maybe you need to use --file 2, or whatever ID it ended up with this time.

(This is from memory, but I think there is a "delete all sources" option that will reset the sourceID so the next one added is "1")

Alien, you're a genius.

I ran
Code:
mythfilldatabase --file 2 ~/.shepherd/output.xmltv
from the terminal and it successfully filled the guide. Now I have to decide do I stick with sourceID 2 or revert to 1. It may be better for future reference to get back to 1. I shall give it some thought over the weekend.

I decided to reset sourceID back to 1. I deleted all sources then added it back. I also had to run a full shepherd --configure and then re-assign station icons. Now it's back running normally and regularly updating the epg.
