I just setup a new frontend-only box and I'd like to use the mythbuntu theme. On my other frontend-only box I can just go to the theme chooser, press menu to show downloadable themes, select the theme, and it will download and install. I think it gives me some error the first time but if I select it again, it works. On this new frontend, if I choose a downloadable theme it just spins. The menu saying it's downloading it just stays up and never goes away...

Can I still manually install themes? This is kind of annoying that this isn't working...

yes. you can wget the file into the themes directory and "tar xvf" the file and then it will be available in the themes chooser.

Could I ask kmkittre, have you checked that the new frontend has internet access?

I don't see why it wouldn't. It's on my network so it can see the backend, and I can get the list of downloadable themes I just can't download them. I'll try to ping google next time I have it on.

Can you download and install updates? This should tell you if your FE has access beyond your local network and out to the cloud. Then it is a matter of seeing if the logs in the FE say anything about trying and failing to DL the new themes. I will try this on my stand alone FE and post back here my results.

Well,

I tried it and the process failed just after the download completes. I am fairly certain it has something to do with folder and/or user permissions. I will check the logs, if I can find them and see what they say.

Post back later.
