One of my Linhes machines runs a realtek wireless card (Realtek RTL8111E) that I have never been able to get working under 7.4. I have just had some major problems with 7.4 that were self-inflicted, so rather than try and fix them I thought a better option might be to upgrade to R8 (even though it has not been officially released). As later kernels have support for this realtek chip, I am hoping R8 has the necessary kernel support.
I tried doing a forum search on kernel and R8 but unfortunately both searches were rejected. So, can anyone help with the kernel number in R8?

Thanks Graysky, the rtl8111 is infamous, but AFAIK it should be well and truly fixed in a kernel as recent as the one in R8. Fingers x.

To upgrade to R8 you should only need to `pacman -Syyu` no?

I had thought R8 needed to be a fresh install, but on checking the wiki it seems to be possible to do an upgrade. However my 7.4 system is pretty screwed now, so a fresh install seems to be the best option.

Depends on the source of the screw. You have nothing to lose do you?
