I have a problem whereby the mythfrontend log is getting filled up really quickly. to stop the system from crashing I have increased the partition size, however the problem still exists.
The constant in the logs looks like this:

Googling leads me in circles with a problem with MythTV back in version 0.19 that has apparently been fixed. Could anyone suggest as to what may be causing this problem?
Thanks and looking forward to replies.

Hi Girkers,
Felt like being a smart arse and saying "well, looks like your ac-tex is damaged. Leave it with us: Pick it up Thursdee" but thought better of it
I had this problem in the past too. Biggest pain was that it filled the damned root partition (corrupted the database, prevented login). As a temp measure, I moved the log file to /myth/tmp and created a symlink. It would therefore take a lot longer to fill and cause a lot less damage when/if it did.
Investigated several solutions, but because it happens so quickly, the only way to stop it is to use logrotate. Set it to rotate at a particular size, and that should at least keep your box running while you look into reducing the ridiculous number of error messages.
Regards
Mike
P.S. If you delete the log file it won't log anything

I have already done all those things, my root partition is 20GB now and I have to clear the log file every couple of days and log rotate is working fine.
I will have to wait and see if anyone else comes up with something. I am thinking that it could be the driver for my DVB card, but I have really no evidence to support that.

I'm not DVB expert, I'd suspect an issue w/ the card or signal.

Thanks Cecil and Mike for your input, some hardware details that may help shed some light on the situation.
I have two dual tuners, a HDHR and a DVICO Dual Digtal 4 Rev 2. The DVICO is the primary recording device whilst the HDHR is the primary live viewing.
Whenever I watch TV I get a blockiness every now and then, but the signal is reported to be above 90% with no BE errors reported. When I look at the details of the HDHR via my Windoze box almost 100% on all.
I am outputing via Composite to a TV via a nVidia 8400 GS PCI-E card, I three HDDs with two formatted as XFS and the remainder of the Boot partition is EXT3.
Where else could I look that I may be able to find the cause?

Girkers,
I've got this error in the past, mostly on SBS, when the DVB PCI card (avermedia a777) is having issues (be it signal or something else). It led me to purchase the HDHR, which does not seem to have this reception error.
So, i have the HDHR as the priority recording device, and the DVB PCI cards only record when there is a third program simultaneously.. not that often on free to air!
Can you confirm that this problem still occurs when using only the HDHR? If so, your problem is not the same as mine. Have you physically looked at your aerial recently?
I did the ac-tex-google dance that you did, but all i could determine was that whenver the picture went blocky there was the ac-tex/mv not avaiable errors in the logs...
Nathan

I know my aerial is fine as I had it replaced and all the coax late last year and I can watch a stream from the HDHR on my windows box fine (just checked the cricket score in HD).
I will try and swap the priorites of the tuners and see how I go.
Thanks

Also, if there is a problem with recording/watchintv from HDHR, you might want to check your firmware (i know windowze is functioning, but there may be something in it)... and the libs for HDHR on LH might have been updated?

I have just deleted the two DVICO tuners and reinsterted (after having to fix the tuner table). I also set the input priority on the HDHR higher than the DVICO and we will see how it goes.

ive been on svn for months now (since i got the hdhomerun), and it works a treat! beware the db upgrade, without a db backup, there aint no turning back... but, thankfully svn has been working well for me (well the functions i use anyway).

I had a lot of trouble with LinHES and this card. Chris Pascoe's driver is not used, and there are a lot of timeouts in the second tuner.
