Okay, I just setup a new mythtv frontend and I have an issue... I want to use the cool new mythinstall scripts. Like the one that automatically sets up my serial IR. Only I can't because I upgraded to myth 0.22...

If I downgrade the frontend to 0.21, I can't run mythfrontend because it's a different version than the backend.

Do I have any option other than to wait for mythinstall to be updated?

I can get my serial receiver to work if after booting I run the following commands:

Code:
sv stop lircd
setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none
sv start lircd

So, what do I need to modify so this happens on boot?

I was able to get it working by adding the commands to the bottom of /etc/rc.sysinit. I doubt this is the correct place for the commands, though...

Yay! Mythinstall is now on 0.22.

However, when I click the menu button I only see About and Cancel. I thought this menu was part of Mythinstall/Mythvantage? Was this an oversight?

/etc/runit/1.local is more appropriate and will not get overwritten with updated files.

You can also edit /etc/systemconfig by hand to insert the correct values, then /etc/runit/1.local would not be necessary to kickstart your serial IR.

I just remembered thyere's a typo in /etc/sv/lircd/run that may prevent your serial IR for working. IIRC, /dev/serial_port needs to be changed to /dev/$serial_port
