OK- I’ve built 2 previous Mythboxes that use two hard drives- a small fast one with the program on / and a small /myth partition, and a large one that’s all /myth2 with a /tv2 folder.

The third one ran aground. It’s not writing anything to the second drive, and is auto erasing programs on the first drive to make room.

Both drives are mounted:

Quote:
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdb1 5036284 2356032 2424420 50% /
none 516484 0 516484 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda1 488252928 4256 488248672 1% /myth2
/dev/sdb3 32891240 23858880 9032360 73% /myth

Mythweb recorded programs thinks all the space is available:

Quote:
5 programs, using 27 GB (5 hrs) out of 497 GB (470 GB free).

Backend status thinks both drives are there:

Quote:
Disk Usage:
• MythTV Drive #1:
o Directory: mythbox101:/myth/tv
o Total Space: 32,120 MB
o Space Used: 23,539 MB
o Space Free: 8,580 MB
• MythTV Drive #2:
o Directory: mythbox101:/myth2/tv2
o Total Space: 476,809 MB
o Space Used: 4 MB
o Space Free: 476,805 MB
• Total Disk Space:
o Total Space: 508,929 MB
o Space Used: 23,543 MB
o Space Free: 485,385 MB

So checking permissions, an ordinary user can copy a file into /tv2:

Quote:
[greg@mythbox101 tv]$ cp 1501_20100212130000.mpg.png /myth2/tv2
[greg@mythbox101 tv]$ cd /myth2/tv2
[greg@mythbox101 tv2]$ dir
1501_20100212130000.mpg.png
[greg@mythbox101 tv2]$ ls -l
total 68
-rw-r--r-- 1 greg greg 69511 2010-02-12 13:45 1501_20100212130000.mpg.png

So anybody have an idea as to why Mythtv (LinHes 6.01, updated) doesn’t distribute the video files to the second drive ?

Arrrgh ! I think I solved it. I was fiddling with the 6. Storage Groups setup in the thought there was an unseen error in the directory path. No, but it turned out I had created a path not in 'Default' group.

The trick is to 'add a path' inside the default group. I now show two paths inside 'default group' (/myth/tv and /myth2/tv2), and Mythtv has transferred a number of files into the /myth2/tv2 directory.

The number of gigabytes for 'recorded programs' has now exceeded the 27 gb that was the previous max, and I think it's now working normally.

Too bad I didn't remember exactly how I set up the first two....

Edit:
After a night of making test (junk... ) recordings, the machine had 12 recordings of 43 gb, up from the previous limit of 5 and 27 gb. A bunch of them were in the /myth2/tv2 directory.

Color this one: solved.... :D
