Post subject:  Iso playback issue (worked previously)

Just upgraded to R6 last night. Got video playback working, but iso files that worked before are making psychodelic playback for some reason. All the signs that pineapple is not present but I selected it on the service menu. Is this tied to the repo being down?

What player are you using to play the iso? Seems that mplayer needed some commandline switch for me to play iso's correctly, but that was a bit ago. Make sure there is a iso file type setup with your player of choice.

I'm using the internal player in both this and the prior version. I tried mplayer via command line with no good results, although the symptoms where different. Played the extra features in chipmunk speed and bad video combo. With internal it played descent audio with psycho images.

Thanks.

Maybe try xine for iso's as xine handles the menu screens better. Never tried Internal for much other then .nuv's

Maybe others will have a solution for Internal playback of isos.

My point of confusion is that in 5.5 it worked without issue so it makes me feel like something is missing. Pineapple was my first guess but it does it with that option selected.

How can you be sure something is truly installed in arch? This is new to me so that may help debugging.

use pacman -Q to see if a package is installed.

As for playback of .iso image files. I have no issue playing my .iso's with the internal player. Your best bet is probably to wait until the repos are back up. I did a pacman -Syu right out of the box so I can't say whether or not it worked before that.

I sure know how to pick when to upgrade don't I!

Thanks for the help, time to dig out the DVD player so the wife does not kill me.

Got pineapple from the arch extra repo. Not the best practice in the world I'm sure, but it made the wife happy and that is what counts.
