Post subject:  Frontend Only Fails to Upgrade Online

I upgraded my Backend/Frontend last night using the upgrade script and all seems to be fine. It is the best upgrade yet!

I did not have any luck using the script to upgrade my frontend machine. At first I thought is was my theme, but then I found the error message as follows.

Code:
2010-03-04 09:40:12.401 The schema version of your existing database is newer than this version of MythTV understands. Please ensure that you have selected the proper database server or upgrade this and all other frontends and backends to the same MythTV version and revision.

I tried forcing the system upgrade and I saw a few more packages install, but still no frontend.

I downloaded the iso and tried it and it upgraded in a snap! It even changed my theme to one of the new "supported" themes.

I don't mind downloading the iso. I need it for my next LUG meeting. :D

Many thanks for the new release to Cecil and crew!

That looks like mythtv 0.21 was still running.... There is no seperate frontend package.

Cecil, can you 'splain more clearly? I'm confused.

Do you mean there is no separate frontend-only upgrade package? Does this necessitate an fresh install for a frontend-only?

It's not that big a deal, but it would clarify things, because I've got a backend-only and two remote frontends-only and I'm about to upgrade my backend.

Thanks again!!

If I exit MythTV (the frontend), the backend is still running. If I don't shutdown the backend and upgrade MythTV, the 0.21 backend is still running and not the 0.22 backend. So, starting the frontend (0.22), I'd expect to see that error. No fresh install needed. The script I wrote takes into account what you are running (standalone or slave bakend or frontend) and does the right thing.
