Post subject:  New Theme Installation ???

I was wondering if there was a easy way to install the themes available on the Mythtv site (for the ongoing competition)?

http://www.mythtv.org/theming-competition

These seem to be part of a compressed tar ball. I was wondering if anyone had tried uploading them or not? I just did not want to break my production 6.02 system (it is running great).

Thanks,

Paul

You can uncompress theme into the Themes directory where the other themes are ("/usr/share/mythtv/themes/"). Set permissions to match the other themes.

Those themes in the theme contest are for 0.23 base only. LinHes 6.02 is 0.22 based. So you will either have to set up a temp server or be running testing's svn version.

From the Contest sight:

How do I win?

In short, complete the best original theme for MythTV 0.22-0.23 and submit it by the deadline! More specifically, the work will be judged by the MythTV developers on standards of Usability, Consistency, Originality, Visual Appeal, and Cleanliness of Code.
Makes it sound like .22 and .23 take the same themes!?!?

I really like the Blue-Abstract theme.

I usually download themes I like and upload them and extract them with Webmin.

In the myth-users list where they announced voting, they explicitly stated these themes run on trunk only. Blue abstract for example will run on 0.22 up to the Jan 31st version. After that it was converted to run on 0.23 for the competition.

I am currently using Blue Abstract on 0.22 and it is really very nice. Especially when you use combinations of BigB's mythvideo-scanner, Jamu, and mythvideo to get the artwork.
