Hi Pat, thank you for that podcast. I added a link to it on Linhes' page in Archlinux wiki. It's a pleasure to listen to the interview with Cecil, as your podcasts are designed with proficiency and Cecil answers with ease to your questions. You know the words not once, not twice but three times. In case you went for another interview with Cecil, would you mind to give it a pinch of salt, including a few more challenging questions ? For instance:
Project governance: you decided to switch from Knoppix to ArchLinux; it was not a miscellaneous move. What's about the decision process, developers' opinions, what main parts had you to re-write before releasing R6 ? Releases schedule: you committed to release LinHES upgrades not later than two weeks after a MythTV new release. LinHES is inspired by quality, and has a tradition to escape from time pressure. How are you going to manage the new target ? Standalone appliance: each new MythTV release adds new features, but may forget to fix old issues, some of the earlier features not being so much satisfactory for the end user. For instance, last release claims to handle HD recording, but lacks of a reliable scan of DVB channels. Is there another task for LinHES developers to fix MythTV flaws as they are an obstacle to the "LinHES promise" to deliver a plug-and-play appliance? All in one, it might be nice to invite a sample of LinHES users to have an interactive exchange with Cecil; that might give content for a very tasty podcast. ![]() |
