G'day,

Not really sure how to explain it, but a simple test is when credits are scrolling up the screen they jump just enough to be annoying!

I have some recoding I have moved away to another disk and if I play those with xine everything is fine. So I assume it is the Internal Playback process that is the problem.

Any idea's on how to fix?

Not 100% on what you're saying here. If you play the exact same files (from the same disk) with xine and Internal do they play differently?

If so, I would look at the playback profile. Don't select vdpau if you're really using an fx5200, as it doesn't support it.

Mike

G'day,

Not using vdpau.
Not sure what to next.
Maybe a hardware upgrade is called for!

Stinga - Just a random thought, your de-interlacing may be to blame.

A lot of the playback issues that people have are related to the various playback settings. Either due to system bandwidth (typically stuttering or tearing) or de-interlacing (motion isn't smooth).

If you bring up the OSD during playback, and the problem gets worse, it's probably an overall bandwidth issue. When you do bring it up, scroll down to the deinterlace options and try the different ones. If the automatic order detection is wrong this may help.

Beyond that you may need to tweak your playback profile to improve the situation.

OBTW - How much CPU and RAM do you have in that box, what are you using for a display, and how is it connected?

G'day all,

I think new hardware has resolved the problem or maybe it was the upgrade to 6.02 that was magic.

The good news is that you solved the problem. :)
The bad news is that we don't know which thing fixed it. :(

Did you keep the hard drive with the previous version of Knoppmyth/LinHES in tact on it?
If so, you could put that drive back in the system and test the software to see if still get stutters with the old version of Knoppmyth/LinHES and your new hardware.

Interested,
Eric

G'day,

Yes, that is a bit unfortunate that we don't know what was causing the problem.

I can probably recreate my HW/SW config both ways, I.E. old version/new hardware or new version/old hardware if we think there is any value in doing that?
