The WOW digital conversion has them handing out DTAs. I have 2 DTAs and a working blaster but no code set for a DMS-2002U DTA. The best I could find is that Tivo's blaster can control it using code 10084-B. Not having a tivo or knowing anyone who has one or knowing anything about a tivo I can't go any further on that lead. I tried irrecord but my PVR350 ir receiver cannot detect the remote so that's a dead end. The remote is rebranded for WOW and has no other clue as to it's model ID. I'm not ready to purchase any specialized hardware for reading IR codes. Anybody have any ideas or maybe the code table itself? S |

Same boat again, but had an easy fix/change. The signal WOW is transmitting is now pure digital, and unencrypted (Basic Cable only, channels 1-81, plus Local HD channels). Using my current HDHomerun units (x2) I did a scan for channels on QAM 256 and "bam" all the channels are there. Tweak the channel numbers a little (add/verify xmlid & remove "1008_" from in front of channel numbers using MythWeb), updated my Schedules Direct Listing, and have been recording pure digital shows since phase one of the change over. My suggestion would be to pick a digital tuner or two. I have 2 HDHomerun units setup as 8 tuners using multirec. Not that I record that much, but the option is available. A few links http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22108 http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22013 I am working on an update to the following as soon as I get some down time (just got married). http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22120 |

I ditched my PVR350 card and bought a Windows MCEUSB remote/blaster kit. Using this hardware I was able to use irrecord and create a working lircd.conf file for the Evolution DSM200U unit. Much joy! It has only the numeric keys (tested) and the enter key (untested). I couple IR emitter with the IR dongle that comes with the DTA in a wad of masking tape rather than attach the emitter on the front of the unit. FWIW, the first irrecord attempt was a bust. It was done in the afternoon in a room with the shade pulled while the working file was done at night with only a dim lamp operating. Is there a lesson for me in this? I had contacted Evolution about the codes but they just gave me corporate/DNA mumbo jumbo so that's why I went this route. Some might say that IP is good for business but I say it's bad for civilization. Am I now at risk for DCMA persecution, er.. i mean prosecution? For convienence, here is my blasting script. It was lifted from the mythtv wiki under the mceusb topic. Code: #!/bin/sh REMOTE_NAME=DMS2002 irsend SET_TRANSMITTERS 2 for digit in $(echo $1 | sed -e 's/./& /g'); do irsend SEND_ONCE $REMOTE_NAME KEY_$digit sleep 0.4 # note, you may have to tweak the interdigit delay up a bit, depending on your STB model done # irsend SEND_ONCE $REMOTE_NAME Enter exit 0 sparks |

There is plenty on the board and the internet on how to use these files. Google setting up an irblaster. It's been a while since I have done this so for me to type detailed instructions here is impossible. I would have to research it myself. An imprecise howto is: One thing is that you need to cut and paste the codes into /etc/lirc/lircd.conf. It can be pasted directly or written to its own file and then referred to with an include statement in the mentioned lircd.conf. Next make reference to the remote name DSM2002 in your channel change script that operates your blaster. This only covers references to the code file. There are several other things that need to be done to set up a blaster. Search this board or google for the nitty-gritty. It's fairly well documented. s |
