This screenshot shows that Channel 24 (SyFy) is missing:
The screenshot shows the SyFy channel on 29, when it is really on channel 24:
What are the steps that need to be taken to "move it back' to 24? What would cause this?

if you are using schedules direct log on to theirs to report the change/error once they fix it you will need to do a Code: mythfilldatabase --do-channel-updates
if you go into the channel editor you might be able to copy and paste the xml id from one to the other

@mattbatt: Thanks. Good counsel.
Althought it took three attempts, here is the desired result:

Btw, how did you find that option for mythfilldatabase? I tried googling
--do-channel-updates and nothing
Also tried:
Code: [root@mythtv ~]# man mythfilldatabase
No manual entry for mythfilldatabase

Code: mythfilldatabase --help usage: --manual Run in manual channel configuration mode This will ask you questions about every channel
--update For running non-destructive updates on the database for users in xmltv zones that do not provide channel data Stops the addition of new channels and the changing of channel icons.
--preset Use it in case that you want to assign a preset number for each channel, useful for non US countries where people are used to assigning a sequenced number for each channel, i.e.: 1->TVE1(S41), 2->La 2(SE18), 3->TV3(21), 4->Canal 33(60)...
--file <sourceid> <xmlfile> Bypass the grabbers and read data directly from a file <sourceid> = number of the video source to use with this file <xmlfile> = file to read
--dd-file <sourceid> <offset> <lineupid> <xmlfile> <sourceid> = number of the video source to use with this file <offset> = days from today that xmlfile defines (-1 means to replace all data, up to 10 days) <lineupid> = the lineup id <xmlfile> = file to read
--xawchannels <sourceid> <xawtvrcfile> (--manual flag works in combination with this) Read channels as defined in xawtvrc file given <sourceid> = cardinput <xawtvrcfile> = file to read
--do-channel-updates When using DataDirect, ask mythfilldatabase to overwrite channel names, frequencies, etc. with the values available from the data source. This will override custom channel names, which is why it is off by default.
--remove-new-channels When using DataDirect, ask mythfilldatabase to remove new channels (those not in the database) from the DataDirect lineup. These channels are removed from the lineup as if you had done so via the DataDirect website's Lineup Wizard, but may be re-added manually and incorporated into MythTV by running mythfilldatabase without this option. New channels are automatically removed for DVB and HDTV sources that use DataDirect.
--do-not-filter-new-channels Normally MythTV tries to avoid adding ATSC channels to NTSC channel lineups. This option restores the behaviour of adding every channel in the downloaded channel lineup to MythTV's lineup, in case MythTV's smarts fail you.
--graboptions <"options"> Pass options to grabber. Do NOT use unless you know what you are doing. Mythfilldatabase will automatically use the correct options for xmltv compliant grabbers.
--sourceid <number> Only refresh data for sourceid given
--max-days <number> Force the maximum number of days, counting today, for the grabber to check for future listings --only-update-channels Get as little listings data as possible to update channels --refresh-today --refresh-second --refresh-all --refresh-day <number> (Only valid for selected grabbers: e.g. DataDirect) Force a refresh today, two days, every day, or a specific day from now, to catch the latest changes. --refresh-all will update every day except the current day. To refresh today and all following days, XMLTV users should combine --refresh-today and --refresh-all. Schedules Direct/ DataDirect users should use --dd-grab-all. --dont-refresh-tomorrow Tomorrow will always be refreshed unless this argument is used --dont-refresh-tba "To be announced" programs will always be refreshed unless this argument is used
--dd-grab-all The DataDirect grabber will grab all available data in a single pull. This will ensure you always have the most up-to-date data, but requires significantly more CPU and RAM. It is not expected to work on all backend systems and with all lineups, and may interfere with recording due to resource starvation.
--export-icon-map [<filename>] Exports your current icon map to <filename> (default: iconmap.xml) --import-icon-map [<filename>] Imports an icon map from <filename> (default: iconmap.xml) --update-icon-map Updates icon map icons only --reset-icon-map [all] Resets your icon map (pass all to reset channel icons as well)
--mark-repeats Marks any programs with a OriginalAirDate earlier than their start date as a repeat
-v or --verbose debug-level Use '-v help' for level info
--help This text
--manual and --update cannot be used together.

Can anyone explain why the SyFy channel sounds like "sci fi" but contains barely any sci fi? I watched it several times over six of the past seven weeks and only remember watching Charmed and some horror movies - and a movie about an Earth-splitting fault line - that movie could be called a horror but not in the way the writer intended.
They weren't all unwatchable shows, just not sci fi. Has it always been that way? Is that why it's mis-spelled?
Just interested.
Mike

Back when I was a young man, dinosaurs roamed the earth, and the SciFi channel contained real SciFi. At some point a few years back the truth in advertising laws caught up with them, and since the amount of real SciFi content was below the legal minimum, they had to change the name to SyFy, which sounds similar, but as we all know is just not the same.
The same thing has been happening to "Country and Western" music which will soon be called "insipid generic faux country pop for redneck women in the 18 to 30 demographic"...

funny but....
the reason that I heard offically is that SciFi is a genre of movies and books so it can't be trademarked or copyrighted or owned by NBC SyFy on the other hand is a nonsense word so it can by trademarked.
That's the official reason I think it is because they want to generalize the content into more wrestling and shows like Cheaters and Cops, ya know the crap that the WB won't even show.
here is an article that says everything that I said http://www.tvweek.com/news/2009/03/sci_ ... hed_ge.php
My favorite part "we just got done with our best year yet so were going to change everything!"
Bitter party of one that they cancelled Stargate Universe
