I have a 6.04 FE/BE and I trying to run up a 7.2 FE (laptop I need later drivers) however after installation I can't get the Frontend to start as it says the Timezone between the Frontend and the Backend are different, however I know they are the same. The Hardware Clocks on both machines are set to UTC and the Timezone is set to Australia/Brisbane on both. Any ideas? |

The timezone check by mythtv is a bit odd, as everything can be the same and it still complains. First thing to check is to make sure that the time on each system is within 4 minutes of each other. |

WOW! How incredible, that worked a treat, I reset the BIOS clock to UTC time, however it still would have been off by about six (6) minutes. Once it was correct all good. |

I am reviving this thread because of a similar issue. New install of frontend on new computer, timezone missmatch error when it boots to the frontend. I verified that both timezones match in the Linhes setup process I also verified that when i type in 'date' from the terminal that I get the exact same time. I also verified that the system time in the BIOS is setup exactly the same. They are both set to the correct UTC time. So now I am stumped. Any ideas or advice? |

You could try this as I recall with a frontend I had to do a NTP check on the frontend and that set the time and got it going correctly. I don't recall exaclty what the command was, but will hopefully point you in the right direction. |

Thinks Girkers, My understanding is that it automatically does NTP check during the boot script and sets the clock from the server, which is why I am even more confused. |

Got it working, and wanted to follow-up in case anyone else runs into this issue. I reviewed the ntp.conf file in /etc. They were different because my backend is LH7.4, and this frontend is R8.0 So made them match by copying over my ntp.conf file from my backend. After this I rebooted and everything is working well now. |
