After having to replace a failing drive, I noticed that I have writes occurring every second or two; even when nothing is happening. I'm sure this is nothing new, I only noticed because the new drive is noisier, but it made me curious to see why (and hopefully extend the life of the new drive). After killing the frontend and backend, I was still seeing the same activity. So I ran "#echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/block_dump" and then "dmesg". The process "runsv" was writing to the disk constantly. I am assuming it is logging something but I am having difficulty figuring out what. I know this isn't necessarily a problem, but If anyone knows what it is doing, and maybe an option to limit drive activity to help extend the drive lifespan I would be thankful.
