If I configure a Harmony remote as an MCE remote and send signals to an mceusb receiver, then most keys work when Myth is set to mce receiver and remote.

However, if I configure a Harmony remote as an MCE keyboard, disable lircd (sv stop lircd), nothing is picked up (and I have tested this with ir-keytable -t).

I do not understand why myth is not treating the remote as just an IR keyboard which should fully control mythtv as an mceusb receiver should be fully compatible with an MCE keyboard.

What is the output of
Code:
cat /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols

and
Code:
ir-keytable

My suspicion is you have only the lirc protocol enabled.

Christ,
Thanks for the reply. I have succeeded previously on obtaining output with ir-keytable -t when the Harmony was configured as an mce remote, but not as an mce keyboard

The output you requested is:
Code:
[root@brhes ~]# cat /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols
rc-5 nec rc-6 jvc sony [lirc]

[root@brhes ~]# ir-keytable
Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event6) with:
        Driver mceusb, table rc-rc6-mce
Supported protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY LIRC
        Enabled protocols: LIRC
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms
Found /sys/class/rc/rc1/ (/dev/input/event8) with:
        Driver imon, table rc-imon-pad
        Supported protocols: RC-6 other
        Enabled protocols:
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms

I remain confused why I cannot get any mce keyboard commands accepted when lircd is stopped as under the new system,as I understand it, it is assumed that ir commands are coming from a keyboard.

If I stop lirc the result is:
Code:
[root@brhes ~]# sv stop lircd
ok: down: lircd: 124s, normally up

[root@brhes ~]# ir-keytable
Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event6) with:
        Driver mceusb, table rc-rc6-mce
Supported protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY LIRC
Enabled protocols: NEC RC-5 RC-6 JVC SONY LIRC
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms
Found /sys/class/rc/rc1/ (/dev/input/event8) with:
        Driver imon, table rc-imon-pad
        Supported protocols: RC-6 other
        Enabled protocols: RC-6 other
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms

hmmm. First if your mce keyboard is supported I think from reading around I would have expected to see a protocol option of "mce_kbd". Are you sure your receiver is compatible with the keyboard?

See also http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/dr ... /rc-main.c line 739

Also I note you have to IR receivers but the iMon one looks essentially disabled. I suspect that is ok.

Yes, I am now beginning to wonder myself if the IR reader is mce keyboard compatible. I will do some more digging, thanks.
