If i do a fresh start of X I can hear audio in Firefox if I play a video in recordings or myth video audio stops working in Firefox. It seems like I'm missing some piece of software to mix audio from different sources on LinHES. I had some issues getting sound to work in 7.4 documented here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=22843&p=135743#p135743 So I may have screwed something up while trying to fix that.
Thanks,
MattBatt

not sure what magical things I did but in the process I fixed audio for firefox and broke audio for mythtv then I poked around a little and finnally had to set up audio in MythtTV settings again and now everything works perfectly. I don't know what I did.

Matt,

I have had similar issues with audio and I meant to respond earlier. I have trouble going back and forth between mythtv audio and "other" audio. Sometimes I will lose audio if I am watching mlb.tv and it goes to commercial break. I have found that if I open alsamixer from an ssh window and mute the Master audio for a couple seconds, then unmute it, it resolves the problem. I had a time where I had a shortcut on my remote to run a script to do that, but I think it got bumped off by a different function and I am out of buttons. I would try that next time it happens. If I remember, I will post the script to do it (I think I had to have the script run as part of a channel change script when I was using my PVR500 to clean up the audio, too). Hopefully your audio is just fixed now and you won't need it, but just in case...

For future reference, the script would go like this:
Code:
amixer set Master mute
sleep 2
amixer set Master unmute

However, that was not the script I used for the PVR500 channel change. It was actually muting the audio from the PVR500 and unmuting it, so that wouldn't be pertinent here.
