Shot in the dark from someone who doesn't know anything.
There is a setting to delete files slowly might this have an effect on the recordings?

Alas, no other ideas come to mind. If I can think of anything else, I'll post to this thread...

You may have something there. As I recall I set the one time and had similar problems. Would be worth a look.

Mattbatt and tscholl:

Both systems do not have the 'delete files slowly' checked. I will select it (check) on the possessed machine and report back.

Thanks

I tried the 'delete files slowly' as checked on the posessed machine. It did not make a difference.

I thought I would close this chapter by telling you what has happened.

I finally gave up and upgraded the hardware. From a Pentium 4 HT 2.8GHz machine, 2 GB and 500GB drive to a Intel E8400 cpu, 2GB and same hard drive. Reinstalled 7.2 and now working just like it should.

I can't explain why the Pentium machine was behaving the way it was because the other machine is identical in configuration (unposessed one) but with a bigger hard drive.

Thanks for all the hints and tips. 8)
