On older version Ctrl+Alt+Backspace use to restart the frontend, is there a key combination to restart frontend in R8.
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace dos nothing
Ctrl+Alt+Delete brings up a box to log out. Log out of what? I log out but everything still works.

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace didn't restart the frontend did it? I thought it just restarted X. Try: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xo ... s_not_work

On my R8 frontend I can use alt escape to exit the frontend. However, the frontend restarts automatically. This happens even when I use Pkill. Just for reference on my R7.4 FE/BE when exiting the frontend I can use alt M to bring the frontend up.

To stop mythfrontend from respawning run this command.

set_windowmanager.sh enlightenment legacy

The legacy bit instructs the system to act like previous system.
Or you could leave it as is, and use a different virtual desktop for non-myth stuff.

The second I read this I knew you where right . Even my notes say "restart the X server"
I used your link and added to file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf
Code:
Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
        MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
        Option "XkbOptions" "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
EndSection

Now Ctrl+Alt+Backspace Restarts X Server --> Works great

When I use "m" to exit mythtv or "alt-esc" to exit to the mythwelcome screen the frontend locks up. Restarting the X server didn't work as I had hoped, it just gives me the option to add another running frontend to my already locked up ones.

What window manager should you really have?
If I look at this page it says that fluxbox is the default window manager.
http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/Alternate_Window_Managers
The version that I have in R8 is "enlightenment enhanced"

When I run
Code:
set_windowmanager.sh enlightenment legacy

it makes the statement that
Code:
If using enlightenment please insure that alt-wm group is installed.
pacman -Sy alt-wm

I checked my currently installed packages and alt-wm is not installed. Should it be or is that old information? I tried to install it but it said that the target is not found.

edit
I found this
http://www.linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/R8?version=1
Fluxbox has been replaced by enlightenment as the default window manager. set_windowmanager.sh may be used to restore fluxbox

Enlightenment .16 is the default for R8.
The set_windowmanager.sh script refers to alt-wm, but it should be alt_wm. The pkg group alt_wm is installed by default so it should be installed.

Regarding mythfrontend respawning, this is on purpose. When mythfrontend segfaults (which it will), the idea is to restart mythfrontend instead of having to pull out the keyboard. The goal is to keep a remote capable UI in front of the user whenever possible.
Switching back to legacy mode with set_windowmanager.sh will remove the respawning of mythfrontend, but it will also change the OSD back.
