Post subject:  Problems since latest updates.

Since installing the last set up updates I get the following when I try to do a reboot or shutdown.
Code:
>REBOOTING
-runit: Warning child failed: /etc/runit/3
-runit: sending KILL singnal to all processes...
-runit: system reboot.
[ 479.815699] INFO: Task runit:3786 blocked for more then 120 seconds
[ 479.815812] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
 mgs ....   repeats  ..............

I have to use the reset button to reboot and or shutdown.

Also after making changes to my remote configuration I am getting 2 copies of lircd when the machine reboots.
Code:
root       527     2  0 14:04 ?        00:00:00 [lirc_dev]
root       761   697  0 14:04 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/lircd -r -n -d /dev/lirc0 --output /var/run/lirc/lircd --connect=localhost 8761
root      1888     1  0 14:04 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/lircd -r -d /dev/lirc1 --output=/var/run/lirc/lircd1 --pidfile=/var/run/lircd1.pid --listen=8761
root      2550  2476  0 14:07 pts/1    00:00:00 grep lirc

Same problem on two machines

lirc starting twice is because there are two /dev/lirc* devices so it chains them together. This was done as a catch all type of thing.

For the hang on shutdown problem, I don't see that happening. Can you expand on "latest updates" like which ones and what repo?

I only have one lirc device, and it loads the same device twice. So when I used the remote is does the same command twice so the cursor goes twice for each. This happened after I ran the remotes script to select the hauppauge receiver.

I know that prior to this there was only one instance of lirc running.

The updates were Linhes udates.
I did a pacman -Syu here is the log.

Come to think about it I'm sure I rebooted the system several times after the updates.

it's very possible that the shutdown hang may be related to running the "remotes" config.

Where would I look to see it there are two entries that might cause lircd to start twice? I checked /etc/lircd.conf and also
/etc/lircrc there is only one entry in those.

/etc/systemconfig is the place to look for current lirc configuration, including defined receiver and remote.

/etc/modules.mythvantage will contain any modules that get loaded on startup pertaining to lirc

/etc/sv/remotes/run is the main script that takes care or lirc, /tmp/remotes.log is is log file. The log file only contains the current run of the script.

Post subject:  Re: Problems since latest updates.

Here's the output from the /etc/systemconfig

Code:
#    IR settings
#-----------------------------
Remotetype="hauppauge-silver"
Remotebucket="hauppauge"
ReceiverType="Hauppauge"
HDHRlirc_device="131316C7"
HostLircWait=""
ReceiverSerialport="ttyS0"
HostTransmitproto_1="none"
HostTransmitproto_2="none"
HostTransmitproto_3="none"
HostTransmitproto_4="none"
HostTransmitDelay_1="2"
HostTransmitDelay_2="2"
HostTransmitDelay_3="2"
HostTransmitDelay_4="2"
HostBlasterType="None"
HostSerialPort_blasterlirc="ttyS0"
Hostnumblaster="1"
LCDtype="no_lcd"

And the /etc/modules.mythvantage

Code:
lirc_i2c    #lirc

This is the log file.
Code:
/usr/sbin/lircd -r -d /dev/lirc1 --output=/var/run/lirc/lircd1 --pidfile=/var/ru
n/lircd1.pid --listen=8761
--connect=localhost:8761
Disable in kernel remote driver
Starting remotes from /usr/sbin/lircd -r -n -d /dev/lirc0 --output /var/run/lirc
/lircd  --connect=localhost:8761
lircd: lircd(default) ready, using /var/run/lirc/lircd
lircd: connected to localhost
lircd: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd
lircd: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd

So it looks like the problem must be in the /etc/sv/remotes/run. Not sure how to debug that.

I posted a copy of my /etc/sv/remotes/run file here

Post subject:  Re: Problems since latest updates.

Update: Figured out the problem but do not have a resolution.

The reboot problem is definitely related to killing one of the lirc processes. I ran the "Remotes" and went back to the default receiver. Then the machine rebooted without a problem.

When I go back and select the ReceiverType="Hauppauge" then exit the "Remotes" task, it restarts both the "Default" and the "Hauppauge" receivers. So when I use the remote both receivers must be sending the results to the frontend which makes the selection jump two or three with one button press.
