I have just added some new content to my movie folder, one was Series 3 of Breaking Bad and the other Back to the Future. On updating the meta data, the TV show, got the fan art, covers and show details, all good.

However Back to the Future does not.

My mythfrontend log shows this:

Code:
2013-10-16T20:27:45.797203+01:00 lust mythfrontend[3082]: I MetadataDownload metadatadownload.cpp:222 (runGrabber) Running Grabber: /usr/share/mythtv/metadata/Movie/tmdb.py -l en -M Back to the Future
2013-10-16T20:27:46.397806+01:00 lust mythfrontend[3082]: I CoreContext videodlg.cpp:3263 (customEvent) No results found for Back to the Future 0 0
2013-10-16T20:28:18.321547+01:00 lust mythfrontend[3082]: E CoreContext xmlparsebase.cpp:350 (ParseChildren) XMLParseBase: Parent is NULL

This isn't isolated to Back to the Future, I am also seeing this with Star Trek Into Darkness.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Regards

Chris

TMDB shut down the old API that was being used. This has been fixed in R8, you just need to update.
Code:
sudo pacman -Syu

Thanks! That has seemed to fixed the metadata / poster issue. I did have to rename an icon file for the installer to complete, but painless otherwise.

I'm having this problem as well. Is there any fix for LinHES 7.4 or do I need to update to R8? Can an R8 frontend connect to an R7.4 backend or will I need to update both? I assume I will need to update both but would be nice to update the frontend first before I mess with the backend.

Since upgrading, I'm still having one metadata issue. It's frustrating me immensely.

I've got the three back to the future movies ripped. I have managed to grab the meta data for "Back to the Future", "Back to the Future Part II" but "Back to the Future Part III" won't. I've tried various ways of having the name in the edit screen but no luck. Nothing appears to happen. The only partial success is renaming the Part 3 file to plain "Back to the Future" title, then it finds all the possible back to the future options, I select "Back to the Future Part III" but data is not updated and the movie poster does not appear, nor does any info.

Right, I guess I'll go and peer at a few log files and check file permissions, though as I can watch Back to the Future Part III through no issue, I don't think its permissions....

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Since info doesn't appear it is probably not permissions but to be sure you could go to your poster/fanart storage group and delete the files for that particular movie. One other trick is to go to http://www.themoviedb.org/, search for your movie and then input the TMDB number into Myth. For Back to the Future III it is 196: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/196-bac ... e-part-iii

You can fix R7.4 by following these instructions: http://askubuntu.com/questions/346542/h ... sion-3-api

As stated, R7.4 and R8.0 both use MythTV 0.25/fixes so you can mix and match systems.

Thank you brfransen and mattbatt. Updating the script on 7.4 worked perfectly. That will buy me a little more time to plan my R8 upgrade.

Just as a little update to this: I still cannot get the metadata for Back to the Future Part III. I've subsequently added different movies and the metadata is grabbed successfully, but not BttF3.

I have put the reference number in the box when editing the metadata but it doesn't update correctly. I have edited its title to be just back to the future, this then gives me options for multiple possibilities. If I select an option for say Back to the Future Trilogy or Back to the Future making of, the metadata updates, but if I select Back to the Future Part III, it fails.

I think there must be a problem with the metadata their end....

I had two of about 200 movies that would not update metadata even with the updated 0.3.6 tmdb3.py script that was linked on the page that brfransen mentioned

I could not get them to update by tmdb number either, but I'm not sure how that is supposed to work anyway. I first tried to put in the title and tmdb number then "retrieve details", subsequently I erased the title and put in only the tmdb # and tried "retrieve details" but got nothing. From the command line, "tmdb3.py -M "Hook"" it looked like the metadata came back fine(along with multiple other matches), but it never got added. I tried resetting details, moving to another directory and rescanning etc., many times but those two just wouldn't work for me.

My problem movies were:
Hook (#879)
Hot Wheels Highway 35 World Race (#47159)

I thought it was odd that they were next to each other alphabetically, perhaps it's just a coincidence. I finally just went to the tmdb website and copied the data manually. The pictures were already downloaded in the artwork folder, I just had to set up the link.

Hi rsay,

Say, that is a really good idea.

How did I miss the obvious and straight forward solution?

So straight forward  instead I get on the web and complain about why it's not doing it itself.

Cheers. I'll go and break out the keyboard...
