I wanted to give a big "thanks" to brfransen, jams, Cecil, all the testers, and everyone else involved here. I recently upgraded from 7.4 to R8 following the instructions:
http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/ ... _R7X_to_R8

and everything went extremely smoothly. I'm still kicking the tires and taking it for a spin, but there's a lot to like in the new version. Thanks again for all the effort and hard work - my wife and daughter really appreciate it too!

I have to agree! I created a LinHES R8 master backend in a new VM and did the upgrade from my old VM. Worked very well and for now all my front ends and slave backends are still R7.4 until I have time to change them over.

My storage is set up quite different from LinHES standard so that was really the only tweaking I had to do. I think some of the automated mounting may be different between R7 and R8 so that may have had something to do with it as well.

The only minor gotcha I haven't worked out yet is when my R7.4 front ends shutdown they hang unmounting the network until it times out. (about 10 to 15min as I recall). I don't know if it is the 7.4/8.0 mix or my additional mounts but I will have to figure that out next.
