Post subject:  v86d using all system resources and causing overtemp

Shortly after fixing the Shell.pm problem I mentioned in my last post, I noticed I could hear beeping from my master backend which sounded like a POST beep. I was working on it with VNC, so I knew it wasn't booting up. After about 10 beeps, I went to check it out. It was coming from the computer and the on-screen performance was laggy.

I started top to find v86d using 100% or greater (sometimes spiked to 101.5) of the CPU, and the temperature was at the warning level. I searched Google for v86d and found this happens sometimes and can be fixed by killing the process. Every time I killed it the process started again. To stop it for now I renamed /sbin/v86d. Now my log is filled with this message over and over:

Code:
2013-11-24T20:02:43.800337-06:00 mythmaster kernel: [27617.850308] uvesafb: failed to execute /sbin/v86d

2013-11-24T20:02:43.800343-06:00 mythmaster kernel: [27617.850358] uvesafb: failed to execute /sbin/v86d
2013-11-24T20:02:43.800345-06:00 mythmaster kernel: [27617.850358] uvesafb: make sure that the v86d helper is installed and executable
2013-11-24T20:02:43.800347-06:00 mythmaster kernel: [27617.850360] uvesafb: mode switch failed (eax=0x4f02, err=-2)
2013-11-24T20:02:43.800348-06:00 mythmaster kernel: [27617.850360] detected fb_set_par error, error code: -22

Another event that occurred around the time of the problem starting was MythTV starting to record two programs on my HDHR tuner.

What needs uvesafb and how can I fix it so that v86d isn't using all system resources to run it?

Thanks.

I'm sorry I just saw this reply from last month. Is disabling the splash screen an option I choose in LinHES setup or some other location? I'm having trouble finding it.

Thanks.

In R8.1 it is Service Menu --> LinHES Settings --> Advanced --> Enable Boot Splash. It might be labeled something a little different in R8.0.
