I have an Amazon Prime trial account and was testing the instant video in linux. On my Debian Linux machine I was able to get it to play with the latest non-pepper flash player (apparently the pepper flash included with chrome does not support DRM). However, when I tried the same thing on R8.0 (and I have not checked with 8.1 but it will surely be the same) it will not play. The problem seems to be that the flash DRM in linux requires HAL to be installed. But I think that it semi-conflicts with some other packages, so I didn't want to mess up my installation too much by installing all of the dependencies and potentially run into conflicts.

The other method that I have seen people use in linux is netflix-desktop or pipelight which essentially runs the DRM silverlight in wine. I see that the devs are already working on adding this to the next release and I'm sure it is very involved.

I was just curious if anybody has found any other workaround for playing Amazon Prime instant videos on LinHES R8? Like we have done with Netflix in the past, we are able to play Amazon Prime videos on our Wii, but if there was a way to play it on the LinHES box, I would prefer that.

XBMC supports this via a third party plugin.

Thanks Graysky, that is a helpful link. I went ahead and installed XBMC and the Amazon and Hulu addons with Bluecop. Hulu seems to play fine, but I get script failed message when trying to play a video from Amazon. I may have to troubleshoot this a bit more with the folks at XBMC. I haven't used xbmc in a few years and it seems to be vastly improved from the last time I had seen it. It might be fun to do some exploration.
