Good Morning and Happy New Year,

The other day I installed all the recent updates to Linhes and everything has been just great,
until this morning.

I am now getting constant hard drive activity and when I check the backend log I see a ton of these entries:

"2014-01-05T00:00:05.277946-08:00 mythbackend[1513]: W TFWWrite threadedfilewriter.cpp:539 (DiskLoop) TFW(/data/storage/WDCWD20EARX-00PASB0_WD-WMAZA9425091/media/tv/1061_20140105072900.mpg:81): write(65424) cnt 273 total 17677264 -- took a long time, 8478 ms 2014-01-05T00:00:08.883447-08"

Because of this I get many short pauses while watching recordings and commflagging no longer works because it's waiting for (and not getting) time to access the drive.

From Commflag.log:
"(WaitForReadsAllowed) RingBuf(/data/storage/WDCWD20EARX-00PASB0_WD-WMAZA9425091/media/tv/1061_20140105072900.mpg): Taking too long to be allowed to read.."

According to the backend logs, today isn't the first time this has happened, but it's the first day I've really noticed it.

What I was doing when this started was recording one show and commflagging another, copying a recording to my windows machine and watching something on youtube on the mythbox. None of that seemed to be stressing my box at all, however.

I've deleted the recording that was listed in the backend log and rebooted a couple of times, but the drive light is still blinking away with no apparent task (recording or commflagging) going on.

Any help would be appreciated.

I love all the new Linhes updates and fixes! It's nice to have reliable DVD playback again.

Paul

Hello,

The excessive drive activity stopped sometime late that night, everything seems to be back to normal now.

It will probably happen again and I'd like to prevent it.

There was a patch for this exact problem over a year ago:
http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/11061

But I don't know how to apply the patch, or whether it would totally destroy Linhes if I tried.

There is no reason to apply the patch as it is already in myth as of 15 months ago.

Hello all,

Good 'ol Diskloop is at it again.

I appreciate that I can't apply a patch that is already in place and working it's magic.

Is there something else that can be done? It's recording the Rockford Files, which is uprated
from Standard Defintion to DVD Resolution.

Nothing else is being recorded or commflagged, or copied to or from the drive.

Thanks,
Paul
