Hi I need to convert some recordings to mp4 and as it often happens my LinHES box is the slowest PC on the network. I tried to grab the recordings out of the "pretty" folder but it's empty. I found a folder called "myth/recordings" and it is populated but I can't read any of the files from there. If I go into Network (windows 7 by the way) I can see the LinHES media Server and can watch videos from there. I can also have the partition mapped to Samba so that I can see the raw recordings with their funky names and can play videos from there.
Any ideas? Is this unique to me and my network? Am I looking at a feature as a bug?

The recordings directory replaced pretty but there is still something in the system that is creating pretty but I haven't tracked it down yet. Recordings is a directory of symlinks to the recordings in the various Storage Groups. Samba by default doesn't follow symlinks. To change that create ~/templates/user.shares that contains:
Code:
unix extensions = no
follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes

Then restart samba:
Code:
sudo sv restart smbd

The recordings directory symlinks should now resolve from your Win 7 box.

DAG NABIT!!!!! (imagine a Yosemite Sam rant here)
Ok So I found the same solution a couple of hours ago except that I used the /etc/samba/smb.conf (which I know will get wiped on an upgrade) I typed up a response and I thought I hit submit.
Thanks brfransen
