Here is where it gets odd you can change the overscan settings for the interface in XBMC but when it plays a video it does so without the overscan compensation. That is where the bugaboo lies.

Now that you know that how to reset the desired screen for myth when you exit xbmc, you should be able to select a standard video within xbmc if that worked when you tried it before.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. The videos play back overscaned and when XBMC exits my little overscan script fixes the damage.
Any idea when XBMC 13 will be hitting the Repository?

From your statement I thought you were saying, that you still had an issue playing movies in xbmc. But guess not and all is well.

Sorry not an issue. If I was a snob I'd be upset about the videos overscanning and loosing that outer edge (it's fairly large on my TV). But if I was a snob I'd own a better TV than a second hand rear projection from 2007 :-)

Personally I can't stand Overscan. I couldn't really appreciate the exact amount of the Overscan until I got the DVE HD Basic Blue Ray DVD. That was an eye opener. That led me to a TV with DVI and the XBMC Calibration Tool. It allows adjustment of the width and height like the nivida tool....

I've also added a script called underscan.sh
Code:
#!/bin/bash
nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="1920x1080 +0+0 { ViewPortOut=1920x1080+0+0, ViewPortIn=1920x1080 }"

underscan makes the screen what Kodi expects before it launches, and then overscan runs after Kodi exits to fix what Kodi does.

I realize that the terminology is backwards, it's a legacy problem :-)
