I have been running Zoneminder in an old Ubuntu distro for a long time, until taking the system down due to room painting, too many restarts, corrupted the program so it won't start (says version (1.25) mismatch :?:

I had just upgraded an 8.1.1 to 8.2 and decided to see how the Zoneminder in that worked ...

Well I got the console and used the settings that worked before but I get a sea of red in the logs ...

Primarily a message: 'Can't open memory map file '/dev/shm/zm.mmap.3': No such file or directory' repeatedly.

So some internet research sez this may fix that (but I think it refers to a Ubuntu-based ZM ....

Quote:
Shared data size conflict in shared_data for monitor Monitor-1, expected 328, got 316.

I traced this error back to /usr/share/perl5/ZoneMinder/Memory.pm with the cause sourcing at line 130 in the perl script.

To hopefully fix this issue, change the line at 130 from

our $arch = int(3.2*length(~0));

To the following (It's advisable to comment out the old line and leave it there).

our $arch = 32;

One of the reply's was: "Thank you. It also solves other problem with shared memory file

Can’t open memory map file ‘/dev/shm/zm.mmap.1′: No such file or directory"

Unfortunately, I get 'file not found' looking for '/usr/share/perl5/ZoneMinder/Memory.pm'

Is there a road map to where LinHes puts the ZM files ?

I am still using 8.1, but my zoneminder is working fine.

I would suggest you reset your settings if possible, they sound as if they are quite different than what LinHes expects. For example, the shared memory is /dev/shm.

Are you using capture cards or IP cameras?

I still haven't figured this out in LinHes ...

In the interests of getting my system up again, I installed Ubuntu 14.04 Server and then 1.27 Zoneminder on it.

This was up and running after a little fiddling with the camera inputs (Using local PCI camera cards, and wired IP cameras.)
[No having to jockey with the shared memory]

I'm still going to play with the LinHes version if I can find where the pertinent files are ...

To list all the files installed by a certain package:
Code:
pacman -Ql zoneminder

Same issue here. I did some quick googling and saw something about permissions. I changed the persmissions of /dev/shm to http:http. No joy although I think the log looks a little different now. Also was a permission warning when doing a pacman -S zoneminder but fixing that did not change anything. I'll keep looking and checking back here as well.

I have found one issue, zoneminder is missing some libraries. I've already filed a bug report:

http://linhes.org/issues/985

Once this is resolve, perhaps it will work.
